Hampshire Marine Watch
Welcome to Hampshire Marine Watch, a new initiative set up to combat all marine crime and setup to combat all marine crime across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
This new programme brings together all parties in the marine community to strengthen communication and help fight crime in the maritime environment.
We encourage all who are involved with the English Channel and it's harbours, to sign up to this programme which will bring you exclusive benefits never before used by the Police in helping to protect your property.
Hampshire Marine Watch Services
The Cormorant Email System
The Cormorant Email System can be used for free under the subscription system of Hampshire Marine Watch. It allows all members to notify the Police instantly via email when a crime is committed in the Marine Watch district. Users can also be notified if suspicious activity has been observed.
For instance, if a theft of your equipment has taken place at Hamble, simply notify the Police as you normally would by calling 0845 045 45 45 or 999 for emergency services. You then have the recommended option of simply filling in the form on the Cormorant Email System. On submission, every member of Hampshire Marine Watch will be notified. This means that news of your theft will reach the Hampshire Marine Unit, all Harbour Masters, the Hampshire Marine Watch Website Admin and all members from every harbour you can think of instantly via email. This will hopefully lead to a quick and successful recovery of your equipment.
The Seagull Text Alert System
The Seagull Text Alert System can only be used by the Hampshire Constabulary, but the benefits of this are far reaching. As soon as suspicious activity is reported in and around Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, the local Police and the Hampshire Marine Watch Unit have the ability to inform every member via a newly developed Seagull Text Alert System. This new setup has never been used before but we're sure this will have far reaching benefits to the Marine Industry.
As an example, if you are aware of the theft of a boat, yacht or a similar craft which has just taken place, simply contact the Hampshire Constabulary as you normally would. The Hampshire Marine Unit then has the ability to activate the Seagull Text Alert System, whereby all members of Hampshire Marine Watch will be notified via SMS message within moments; potentially hundreds of members. Once again, this will hopefully lead to a quick and successful recovery of the craft.
