Why should I pay a subscription, shouldn't the website be free?

The site is funded on a subscription basis, due to the costs of running the administration and website upkeep. The site will be monitored by Hampshire Marine Watch 24/7 throughout the year which will be of benefit to all members. Also, a unique and new system will be employed when a crime has been recently committed.

The Hampshire Constabulary will have the ability through the website to contact all subscribing members instantly via SMS, meaning all associates have the ability to be notified of a potential crime, or one that has been recently committed within moments. There is an obvious cost to the system and the annual 12-month subscription of £15.00 reflects this. We also feel that becoming a member could significantly reduce your insurance costs. We are working very hard behind the scenes negotiating with Marine Insurance companies that may offer a discount on your marine insurance costs if you are a Hampshire Marine Watch member. We hope to be able to offer this to new and existing members shortly.
